The company's founder, R. Royce Richey, has been active in the electronics' industry since 1954 and was influential in developing the subminiature electrolytic capacitor market in the United States. In 1974, Richey Electronics Limited (REL) founded in Kohsiung Export Processing Zone, Taiwan with capital of one millionand U.S dollar. It supplies high quality electronic components to Richey directly and through its international trading company. REL owns and operates a 72000 square feet building with 200 employees. The entire Richey factory is devoted especially to the production of electrolytic capacitors. This includes a tool room and maintenance shop, engineering lab, purchasing and material storage, shipping and receiving departments and it owns the power of automatic production.
